Today was rough.  I couldn't get the color right and the spark just wasn't there.  Oh well there's always tomorrow.

Found a new shape today.  I was playing around with some scrap paper and started folding and ended up with this very interesting shape.  Working from life and natural light.  It will reveal more of itself in the coming days.

Day 27

Very exciting this morning when I was on my run and found my inspiration for today's piece.  Running down the streets around my house, I couldn't help but notice the warmth of the morning sun against the contrasting trees that lined the road.  What a great way to start a morning!

Day 26

Using some handmade paper that I made today!  Great Texture but Fragile.  I think the overall piece was forced and too structured but there is always room for experimentation!  Maybe bringing back some of the lines.....

Day 25

Working with layers and bringing back some of the black lines of the drawing through the paint.  The board-like objects are becoming more of a pattern in todays painting.  I think soon it might be time to incorporate some color.

Day 24

Looking at some work by the photographer Gregory Crewdson.  Watched a documentary film about him on the Halogen channel. Very interesting staging and lighting techniques.

Playing with some spatial orientations and multiples.

Working without the horizon line is tricky but I think the effects of light and atmosphere are coming through.

Trying to slowly deconstruct this horizon line.  I am intrigued to see where this leads.

Working with washes allows for some interesting atmospheric effects.

Day 19

I began to ponder Claudine's comment about a "layered space".  I was missing an Edge/Cliff, the only place where you can visualize the layers of earth.  I was also watching "planet green" about the creation of the Himalayas and their immense layers of history and geological movements.  I guess a combination of the two resulted in today's painting.

Day 18

I started a little differently today.  I first placed 5 sharpie lines on the page to get a quick idea down and then returned to it with collage and paint.  We shall see if this influences other pieces.

These next few days I am going to be pulling some of my inspiration from my trip to upstate NY this weekend.  I am inspired by the layers of history that are created within the vast landscapes of my drive.

More NatGeo: Africa inspiration. The collaged pieces are getting larger and are beginning to play some important roles in ground and atmosphere.

Day 13

Watched something on the NatGeo Channel about Africa's climate and wildlife.  Channel surfing has become a good lunch time activity.

I was reading an interesting article in Architectural Digest about creating a room with a BOLD color palette.  I know shocking that this doesn't have any COLOR but definitely a boldness about it.
