1st Thesis Committee Review

Today was my first thesis committee review and I think it went very well.  It was just the right amount of balance and feedback I needed right now for my work.  Some suggestions:
1.Work outside my peripheral view and increase the elongated format, while still incorporating the vast space.
2.  The works reference a landscape, terrain, desert area possibly suggesting the beginning of time, earth, an aftermath of an explosion or disaster.
3.  Reference to resources and the environment, the lack thereof.
4. Emptiness and overwhelming by increasing the scale- engage the viewer by drowning them in the whole piece.
5.  The Power of Silence.

So inspiring and very informative.  Some things to tweak in my past two paintings but new work will be coming along shortly.  Most likely it will work to show for my Thesis Exhibition in April.  Stay tuned....more to come!

"Recoil" creates a tension between the tightly bound paper and release.  Movement and Light....

New work!

This series of Charcoal and Ink drawings were completed to look at simple shape and form.  The receipt paper is such an interesting material to work with and lends itself to some great movements.
